Jimmy Fallon and The Tonight Show have returned from a recent hiatus with a generous announcement.

On Tuesday’s episode, the first since southeast Texas was ravaged by Hurricane Harvey, Fallon revealed that The Tonight Show is donating $1 million to help with relief efforts.

“Last week we saw the devastating effects of Hurricane Harvey on the state of Texas,” the late-night host said. “But in the face of this tragedy, we saw good. We saw communities banding together. Neighbors helping neighbors. Strangers helping strangers.”

Fallon shared many examples of people stepping forward to assist one another, but he made special note of one athlete’s impressive rally for aid: Houston Texans standout J.J. Watt has spearheaded a fundraising campaign that stood at $20 million as of Tuesday.

And I’m proud to say that our show, The Tonight Show, is donating $1 million dollars to J.J.’s fund,” Fallon said. “Thank you, J.J.”

The contribution follows the lead of many high-profile celebrities who have also made $1 million donations, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Tyler Perry, and Sandra Bullock.
