After a brief seven months of marriage, Real Housewives of New York star Luann de Lesseps and businessman Tom D’Agostino are calling it quits.
De Lesseps, 52, confirmed her split from D’Agostino, 50, in a Twitter statement on Thursday. “It’s with great sadness that Tom & I agreed to divorce,” she wrote. “We care for each other very much, hope you respect our privacy during this sad time!”
The divorce won’t likely come as a surprise to RHONY viewers, who have watched de Lesseps defend her marriage to her skeptical cast members throughout the show’s current ninth season, which airs its finale next week.
“Didn’t she say that it was a love tap or something?” Frankel said. “I really feel badly for her because she’s living this totally out loud and I think, you know, it’s personal. They got married and I decided to stay out of it after that.”
Other members of the RHONY cast have expressed support for de Lesseps following her statement.
“It’s always a sad thing when a marriage doesn’t work and I hope everyone respects their privacy during this sad time,” Dorinda Medley told Us Weekly. “I wish them both the best.”
“I am so sad for you ….” Ramona Singer wrote on Twitter, replying to de Lesseps’ original post.
De Lesseps and D’Agostino married on Dec. 31 in Palm Beach, Fla.
