After nearly a year of dating rumors, Jennifer Lawrence is finally opening up about her relationship with Darren Aronofsky, who directs her upcoming film mother!.
And where better to go public than the September issue of Vogue, which features the actress on four separate covers?
In the interview, Lawrence confirms she started dating Aronofsky, who is 22 years her senior, after mother! wrapped, in a series of salty quotes that paint a questionable picture of their relationship.
‘”We had energy,” Lawrence says, then adds drily: ‘I had energy for him. I don’t know how he felt about me.”’ Don’t sound too excited, Jennifer.
“I normally don’t like Harvard people, because they can’t go two minutes without mentioning that they went to Harvard…He’s not like that,” she continues, before revealing that the “not a snobby Harvard man” Aronofsky hates when she watches reality TV.
“He just finds it so vastly disappointing,” she says.
Aronofsky must have loved the “Kardashian tent” that Lawrence describes her mother! crew setting up for her on set, a place where the actress could decompress after rigorous shoots. “It was a tent that had pictures of the Kardashians and Keeping Up with the Kardashians playing on a loop — and gumballs,” she said. “My happy place.”
“I wasn’t involved in that,” said Aronofsky, quoted for the article. “I was like, ‘What are you talking about, ‘the Kardashians?'”
Things get more positive when Lawrence calls Aronofsky, who has a son from his previous relationship with Rachel Weisz, an “amazing father.”
“When I saw the movie, I was reminded all over again how brilliant he is,” she said. “For the past year, I’ve been dealing with him as just a human.”
“I’ve been in relationships before where I am just confused,” she continued. “And I’m never confused with him.” Let’s hope that’s a good thing.
mother! hits theaters Sept. 15.
