Rachel Bloom is ready for the fashion industry to accept the fact that not everyone is a size 2.
The actress told Wealthsimple in an interview published Wednesday that it’s more expensive for her to find clothes to wear for events because she’s not a size 0 or 2.
“I have a normal body,” Bloom said. When finding sample clothing, that makes things difficult — many fashion houses, she said, only want to give out sizes 0 or 2. If she needs an event outfit, she often has to pay out of her own pocket.
“That’s the whole problem with the fashion industry,” she said.
One sign of progress can be seen on this season’s Project Runway, where designers created looks for models sizes 0-22, a first for the show and many of the designers.
“Women want choices, they want to be able to just decide for themselves what they want to wear instead of having a limited number of items they can choose,” Tim Gunn told USA TODAY.
The first episode of Season 16 hits Thursday 8 ET/PT.
