Straight Up Hollywood podcast: Best (& worst) of the Toronto film fest, 'Young Sheldon'

This week, Straight Up Hollywood travels to Toronto for films, Burbank for a boy genius and Hollywood for singers, dancers — and puppies!

West Coast Entertainment Editor Andrea Mandell (@AndreaMandell) breaks down the Toronto International Film Festival, where she took in 16 movies in five days while interviewing the likes of George Clooney and Javier Bardem. Listen in to get her thoughts onanticipated films including Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water, Clooney’s Suburbicon, Greta Gerwig’s Lady Bird, Margot Robbie’s I, Tonya and Darren Aronofsky’s mother!

Keep listening, because we’ve got the lowdown on Young Sheldon, the prequel spinoff of The Big Bang Theory, from TV reporter Bill Keveney (@billkev). He visited the CBS comedy’s Burbank soundstage and talked to the delightful young Iain Armitage, who plays nine-year-old genius Sheldon Cooper, on the show’s high school classroom set.

Finally, entertainment reporter Carly Mallenbaum (@ThatGirlCarly) describes her backstage visit to a dress rehearsal for summer’s biggest show, NBC’s America’s Got Talent, where she dodged massive props while taking in a dizzying spectacle of talented performers (plus a dog act).

Surprises abound in our Last Call segment, too.
