TV tonight: 'Mr. Mercedes' debut, 'The Story of Diana'

Mr. Mercedes
Audience Network, 8 ET/PT

Created by Big Little Lies producer David E. Kelley, Mr. Mercedes is the latest Stephen King adaptation to hit the small screen. The 10-episode season takes its cue from King’s 2014 novel, a detective story following Bill Hodges (Brendan Gleeson), a past-his-prime investigator who re-emerges to track down the titular killer (Harry Treadaway), who taunts the detective back into the field. Kelley told USA TODAY that “people will come to Mr. Mercedes for the thrills that Stephen King so readily offers, and they will stay for the richness and characters.”
