TV tonight: SNL's 'Weekend Update,' 'Nashville'

Saturday Night Live: Weekend Update
NBC, 9 ET/PT

Saturday Night Live is returning a bit earlier this year, with four primetime episodes of its “Weekend Update” news sketch. Colin Jost and Michael Che will anchor, with appearances by other cast members. Primetime versions of Weekend Update have aired before, sometimes tied to elections, but this is the first summer outing.

Nashville
CMT, 9 ET/PT

The first season of the series in its new CMT home concludes tonight, and survived the departure of star Connie Britton. In the season finale, Deacon (Charles Esten) and the artists at Highway 65 take a stand, but Zach (Cameron Scoggins) sends a message right back. Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) and Maddie’s (Lennon Stella) conflict comes to an inevitable head.

I, Robot
Spike, 7:30 ET/PT

Before Westworld brought the ethics of artificial intelligence to our screens, this 2004 film, inspired by sci-fi legend Isaac Asimov, put Will Smith directly in the path of evil robots. Smith plays Detective Del Spooner, a cop with anti-robot sentiments investigating whether a robot could have killed his owner.
