About Voice Actors in the News
Voice Actors in the News has been specializing in entertainment news for voice actor enthusiasts and professionals for more than a decade.
In September 1999, Voice Actors in the News founder Craig “Voiceroy” Crumpton was asked to join the staff for popular animation fan site toonzone.net as a news correspondent.
Craig’s news posts spotlighting voice actors became a regular feature on the site, and he found that he enjoyed reporting more about voice actors than he did about animation in general. He decided to expand coverage from periodic news posts into a monthly newsletter and began brainstorming ideas for the title and content.
Craig first used “Voice Actors in the News” as the simple title of a news post in November 1999, but it wasn’t until January 8, 2000 that the premiere issue was published and thus became the web’s first newsletter/e-zine or “fanzine” (as they were known back then) devoted entirely to voice actors in animation.
In March 2009, the self-published fanzine was upgraded to a blog format and expanded its service to the fandom by covering all entertainment news related to voice actors and voice acting, and strives to promote and bring recognition to voice talents for all forms of media.
